Setup Information

Welcome.

Columbia University venues are primarily for use by Columbia University departments, schools, and recognized student groups. 

Certain event spaces may be used by non-affiliate organizations.

Non-affiliated organization must include the following language on any advertising for events held at Columbia University; "This event is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Columbia University.”   All advertising must be submitted no later than 10 business days prior to the event. Failure to provide such documentation will result in cancellation, subject to the Cancellation Policy outlined by UEM and Columbia University.

To request space, please begin by completing the “When and Where” and “Setup Information” sections.

 

When selecting your venue, please keep in mind the following parameters: 

  • Faculty House
    • Faculty House is open to all members of the Columbia community and outside guests, all year.
  • Lerner Hall
    • Faculty, staff and outside guests can reserve space in Lerner Hall Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. during the academic year and anytime the building is open when classes are not in session. All other times are reserved for student use.
    • Students can reserve space in Lerner Hall on weekdays after 5:00 p.m. and all day on weekends during the academic year.
    • Use of the Party Space in Lerner Hall is extremely limited. Email the UEM planning team for more information about this space.
  • Low Library 
    • Available only to Columbia affiliates.
    • Outside guests can only use Low Library with University sponsorship.
    • Social events are not permitted in Low

  • Outdoor grounds
    • Available only to Columbia affiliates.
    • Outside guests can only use outdoor grounds with University sponsorship. 
    •  Hardscapes are available year-round for events from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 a.m. Overnight activities and/or events are prohibited.
    •  Lawns are available between the first Monday following April 21 through the first Monday after October 21 from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 a.m. Overnight activities and/or events are prohibited.

 

If you have a specific venue and room you would like to request, make sure to check availability first. If your venue or room needs are flexible or if you would like a member of the UEM planning team to make a recommendation, you can select “no preference.”

 

Next, complete the “Event Details” tab, outlining your event logistics including any Catering or Technical Services needs. Please make sure to read the Terms and Conditions before submitting your request. A member of the UEM event planning team will contact you to verify any outstanding details of your request or to confirm your reservation.
